Opening and Chairmanship
The joint inauguration of the Science Students Association (SciSA) and the handing over ceremony of the Mathematics Students Association (MaSA) was held at Ada College of Education. The event was chaired by Mr. Francis Tumfuor, Science Coordinator for the Ada East District Directorate of Education . In his opening remarks, Mr. Tumfuor emphasized the essence of STEM education in fostering innovation, critical thinking, and problem-solving skills among students. He reiterated the importance of embedding STEM into the curriculum of teacher education institutions to prepare future educators for the demands of modern classrooms.
Address by Guest of Honour
The Principal of Ada College of Education, Prof. Prince Boateng, delivered the keynote address as Guest of Honour. He highlighted the relevance of STEM and its synergy with Technical and Vocational Education and Training (TVET), stressing that the integration of these disciplines equips students with both theoretical knowledge and practical competencies. Prof. Boateng admonished students to take STEM seriously, positioning it as a pathway to employability, entrepreneurship, and national development.
Inauguration and Swearing-In
The formal inauguration of SciSA executives and the handing over of MaSA leadership activities were coordinated by the College Chaplain, Mr. Joshua Dugah. He administered the oath of office and charged the new executives to uphold integrity, service, and collaboration in their leadership roles. The ceremony symbolized continuity and renewal in student governance, ensuring that both associations remain vibrant platforms for academic and professional development.


Exhibitions
A notable feature of the programme was the exhibition segment, where members of SciSA and MaSA showcased innovative teaching and learning resources. Exhibits included:
* Low-cost and no – cost instructional models for mathematics and science concepts.
* Simple science experiment kits designed for classroom demonstrations.
* Creative artifacts illustrating real-world applications of STEM.
These exhibits reflected students’ ingenuity and commitment to advancing effective pedagogy in mathematics and science education.





Quiz Competition
The event also featured an inter-school Science and Mathematics Quiz involving three private basic schools in the district; Asi Daahey International School, Peaceful Kingdom Academy, and Lovehill School. At the end of the competition, Asi-Daahey International School emerged as the overall winner, with Lovehill School and Peacful Kingdom Academy Schools placing second and third respectively. Participants were awarded medals, cash prizes, and teaching and learning resources. The competition underscored the College’s role in promoting STEM excellence beyond its campus, engaging the wider educational community.

He thanked the organisers for such a programme, and highly commended the college on the cordial relationship built between the college and the community over the years.

Closing Remarks
In his closing remarks, Chairman Mr. Tumfuor commended the organizers and participants for a successful programme. The College Chaplain, delivering the vote of thanks, expressed gratitude to the Principal, the Heads of Department for Science and Mathematics-Computer (Dr. Eunice Osei-Asibey and Dr. Hubert Amevor), and all stakeholders whose contributions ensured the success of the event.
The ceremony was described as a landmark occasion that not only celebrated student leadership but also reinforced Ada College of Education’s commitment to advancing STEM education in Ghana. The integration of exhibitions, competitions, and formal leadership transitions made the programme holistic, impactful, and memorable.
