The Institute of Education, University of Cape Coast, in collaboration with the Ministry of Education and the Ghana National Association of Teachers (GNAT) run Three-Semester Bachelor of Education (Post-Diploma in Basic Education) Programmes in the sandwich mode which started in the first semester of 2020/2021 Academic Year. This is to enable holders of Diploma in Basic Education (DBE) to be upgraded to a Bachelor’s degree.
Nationwide, the current participants of the program include the cohort one (first set admitted since it’s inception) and cohort two (second set).
The student populace had reported to the ADACOE Centre on Sunday, the 12th day of December, 2021, with the rest reporting in subsequent days. This phase began with the cohort one scheduled to end the second semester and have a concurrent third semester and cohort two scheduled to begin and end the second semester.
The School management held an opening ceremony to welcome students back to the Ada College of Education campus for a new phase on the 13th December, 2021.
At the Welcoming ceremony, Management deliberated on the use of electrical gadgets such as kettle, rice cooker and heater by students on campus. Students were strictly prohibited from the use of such gadgets. The Principal of the College, Mr.Cephas K. Bodakpui stressed on the effects of the use of those gadgets.
Students with issues of Incomplete results or inability to access their first semester results were also addressed by the Centre Coordinator, Miss Eunice Osei-Asibey.
Orientation for teaching practice was carried out by the Institute of Education-UCC representatives on Tuesday the 14th of December,2021, where students were educated on the Macro teaching (Teaching Practice) they would start From January for a period of 10 weeks. During the orientation, all students were allowed to ask questions and all issues related to the topic were resolved.
The orientation covered both Cohorts.
Revision for Cohort one began from the 13th to the 21st of December, for Cohort one in preparation for the end of second semester Examinations. Students attended lectures during this period while Tutors were often punctual and available to assist them.
The End of Second Semester Examinations began on the 22nd December, 2021 and ended on 27th December, 2021, by Cohort one.
Again, Cohort one began the third semester on Tuesday, 28th December, with students scheduled to attend lectures from 28th December, to 5th January. They would write quizzes one and two on 31st December, 2021 and 4th January, 2022, respectively. Cohort one would also write the end of third semester examinations before leaving for home on the 8th of January, 2022.
On the other hand, Cohort two began face- to- face lectures with tutors from the 13th December, to 24th December, 2021. They began quizzes and assignments during this period and are currently writing external quizzes which would begin on the 27th December, and would end on the 29th December, 2021.
They are scheduled to have revision from 30th to 31st December, in preparation for the end of second semester examinations. They would write the end of second semester examinations from the 3rd day of January and end on the 7th day of January, 2022.
Both Cohorts would vacate on the same day.
