Ada College of Education on Thursday, 13th March 2025, hosted the 2025 Success Africa Summit organized by the Success Africa Foundation, LEC Group, and the LEC Cooperative Foundation, with sponsorship from ABSA Bank Gh. Ltd, MTN, InvestCorp, and Express Group Ghana.

Opening the event, Prof. Prince Boateng, Principal of the College, said he was convinced that whatever investment was made under his watch to bring staff and students exposure outside the confines of what lessons were to be taught and learned in the lecture halls was worth every pesewa. He said many of the world’s industrious and successful men and women were well-read, worldly-wise, and kept abreast with global affairs. He encouraged the participants to drink deep from the knowledge to be shared and take inspiration from other achievers to chart their own paths.

Mr. Albert Kusi, President/Originator of the LEC Group, applauded the efforts of the Principal to bring the event, which had been hosted mainly in public universities, to a college of education. He encouraged the students to spend their leisure time building skills and other interests capable of propelling them into the limelight and yielding the expected pecuniary dividends. He said students needed to build their communication skills, be IT-savvy, develop worthy friendships and networks, cultivate a purposeful culture of saving even from their meager resources, and use time at their disposal judiciously if they were to succeed.

Ms. Emma Hayford, Field Manager, Youth Segment, ABSA Bank Ghana Limited, encouraged participants to visit the ABSA Ready to Work Learning platform for professional development and take advantage of the wealth of opportunities the Bank is offering Ghana’s youth. She also talked about ABSA’s No Account Maintenance Charges & Free International Debit Card.

Mr. Emmanuel Idun, Head of Institutional Sales, InvestCorp Group, introduced participants to the firm’s Mobile App for savings. He said financial literacy in today’s world was non-negotiable and therefore constituted knowledge and skills that particularly those training to be teachers needed to have to impact their own lives and the lives of those entrusted into their care in the near future. He encouraged participants to memorize the 789710#* code to help them in their savings lifestyle.

Mr. Samuel Nettey enlightened participants on fraud related to mobile money applications. He advised phone users to embrace the simple safety message that MTN will never call its users with any number apart from 0244300000. He said understanding this simple safety message would save users a lot of hassle.

Mr. Charles Boateng, Express Group Ghana, spoke about the study abroad preparatory courses supported by the Express Group, as well as opportunities abroad for teachers. He said Express Group could easily be reached.
The theme for this year’s summit was: “Beyond Limits.”
The Success Africa event, which began in 2008 in Ghana, went inter-African in 2013 and has since been held in 37 universities across Africa. Until this year, AdaCoE was the only College of Education strategically positioned by its Principal to host it. Keen to have his college join the higher educational institutions hosting the event, the Principal of Akatsi College of Education made time to participate in the event with representatives of the Students Representative Council, this year.
